Tune ups sure have changed over the years. In the past, a tune up was required often and it entailed a specific list of parts including ignition points. Well times have changed, and the tune up is not what it used to be, BUT tune ups still do exist, and they are required to keep your car running like new.
Some of you might say "my car only needs a tune up every 100,000 miles". That might be true in a perfect world, but the truth is many cars on the road are in dire need of a tune up even though they haven't quite reached 100,000 miles since the last one was done.
Any problems that affect how the engine runs (faulty sensors, head gasket problems, etc) may shorten the operating life of your spark plugs which means you may need a tune up sooner than you expected.
Full Tune Up:
- Spark plugs
- Spark plug wires (if applicable)
- Distributor cap (if applicable)
- Fuel filter
- Air filter
- PCV valve
- Check /replace vacuum lines
- Check engine computer sensors for proper operation
- Check EGR valve
Price list for Tune ups
- 4 cylinder engines--$50
- 6 cylinder engines--$65
- 8 cylinder engines--$75
These prices do not include parts or tax

If you would like just a portion of these items replaced (a fuel filter for example), you would not be charged for a full tune up. You would be charged for installing a new fuel filter only (in this example).
